Searching multiple LDAP directories
You can allow SirsiDynix e-Library to search multiple LDAP directories each time a patron logs in.
For example, a university library that has separate student and staff directories can allow e-Library to search both directories for validating information (username and password) each time someone logs in.
This option may increase the wait time during patron login, since e-Library searches each LDAP one after the other to verify the patron’s credentials.
To enable searching in multiple LDAP directories
1 | On the e-Library server, go to \Unicorn\Webcat\system.env in the directory where SirsiDynix Symphony is installed. |
2 | Find the section that lists the current LDAP variables by searching for LDAP_ADDR. |
3 | Select and copy the following variables: |
LDAP_ADDR
LDAP_PORT
USER_ID_TAG
BASE_DN
LDAP_LIBR
LDAP_UACS
LDAP_CLRN
BIND
BIND_DN
BIND_PASSWORD
SSL_AUTHENTICATION
CERT_FILE_LOCN
4 | Paste these variables beneath the first list of LDAP variables. |
5 | Add a number after each variable to show which LDAP that variable belongs to. For example: |
LDAP_ADDR2LDAP_PORT2 USER_ID_TAG2
6 | Specify the needed information for each variable in “pipes” (||) following the variable name. |
For example, to specify the second LDAP address, type LDAP_ADDR2|example.server.domain|
Note: You may need to contact your LDAP server administrator in order to assign the correct values to these variables.
To learn more about what each variable means, see Fields: LDAP Configuration.
7 | Save the system.env file. |
Now e-Library searches both LDAP servers to validate each patron’s username and password.
