Configuring Electre or BTLF enriched content
After the SirsiDynix e-Library server has been configured for enriched content, you need to set up the display of each type of enriched content. This topic covers the configuration for the Electre or BTLF (Banque de Titres de Langue Française) enriched content providers. The enriched content provided by these services includes book covers, “Online” links, author biographies, and title summaries.
You can use any combination of Electre or BLTF and Syndetics enriched content, but SirsiDynix does not support the use of Electre or BTLF and Syndetics for the same content in the same SirsiDynix e-Library environment (sys.env). For example, it is acceptable to configure SirsiDynix e-Library to display an Electre or BTLF author biography and a Syndetics book summary, but not acceptable to configure SirsiDynix e-Library to display an Electre or BTLF author biography and a Syndetics author biography. It would also be acceptable to configure one SirsiDynix e-Library environment to display only Electre or BTLF content and another SirsiDynix e-Library environment to display only Syndetics content.
To configure the display of Electre or BTLF enriched content
1 | Your policy files must first be configured to display the types of content you want. You can set this for each separate library configuration. |
For details on setting up these policy files, see step 8 in Configuring e-Library for enriched content.
2 | Open your system environment file (system.env), or open a specific environment file to configure the enriched content only for a certain environment. |
3 | Type your Electre or BTLF client identifier for the ELECTRE_ID variable. This value is provided to you by the provider of your library's choice. |
ELECTRE_ID|abcdefg|
4 | Type the base URL from which to retrieve enriched content for the ELECTRE_WIDGET_BASE_URL variable. If you do not know what this URL should be, contact your enriched content provider. |
Note: The provider you use will validate your OPAC address; you must register your library's OPAC URL with your enriched content provider.
5 | Set the display flag for the following content to display: |
• | DISP_ELECTRE_HITLIST_COVERS - for displaying book covers on the search results page. When enabled, covers from Syndetics, if configured, will not display. The Memento provider's book covers may vary in size. |
• | DISP_ELECTRE_DETAILS_COVERS - for displaying book covers on the item details page. When enabled, covers from Syndetics, if configured, will not display. The Memento provider's book covers may vary in size. |
• | DISP_ELECTRE_DETAILS_LINK - for displaying a link on the item details page for online access to the book. This link displays between the title and item information. |
• | DISP_ELECTRE_DETAILS_BIO - for displaying a short author bibliography on the item details page. This biography displays between the title and item information. |
• | DISP_ELECTRE_DETAILS_SUMMARY - for displaying the item’s summary or abstract on the item details page. This summary displays between the title and item information. |
To set the display flag, you set the value of the variable to 1. For example:
DISP_ELECTRE_DETAILS_BIO|1|
Note: The content will only display if it has been set in the policy files as well. (For more information, see step 8 inConfiguring e-Library for enriched content.)
6 | Save the changes to the file. |
The system uses the new settings with the next browser session.
